Under a new plan, heat pumps and electric vehicle chargers will have to be sold with smart functions to help customers use cheaper energy tariffs. This will encourage them to choose these systems for sustainable living.

The smart function heat pumps would allow households to activate their smart functionality and save money by heating their homes when energy is cheaper.
The appliances, including heat pumps, battery storage, and charge points, will need to be able to operate across various tariffs, meaning they are not just used for one energy supplier, and consumers are not just using one specific plan.
These new regulations would apply to heat batteries, hot water heat pumps, hybrid heat pumps and storage heaters.
It is said that there would be a 20-month period to let manufacturers upgrade production before the regulations are in place.
We look forward to seeing where this will take the future of heating systems!
